Assignments (also called homework) - The dates listed here are when assignments ARE DUE, not when you start them. (An Assignment Sheet is available, but the information below actually links you to the documents that you need to read or print.)

  • Due 8/30 (Mon) - Lightly read How to Write a Major Paper. (Look at the numbered footprints on pages 1-4 and what each footprint represents. Look at the examples.). AND lightly read Plagiarism. (Know what plagiarism is and is not. The diagram on the last page is the most important.) There will be a brief quiz to see if you read these articles.

  • Due 9/1 (Wed) - Read Is God Logical?

  • Due 9/6 (Mon) - Labor Day - NO CLASSES! (See next assignment.)

  • Due 9/8 (Wed) - Read over your class handout paying particular attention to the examples. Read Reasons from the Bible to Study Logic, pp. 1-5.

  • Due 9/13 (Mon) - Read over your class handout paying particular attention to the examples. Read Reasons from the Bible to Study Logic, pp. 6-9. AND study for Quiz #1: What to Know Notes for Quiz #1.

  • Due 9/15 (Wed) - Read over your class handout paying particular attention to the examples. Read The Language of Persuasion. Print this document and bring to class.

  • Due 9/20 (Mon) - Read over your class handout paying particular attention to the examples. Work on your Fallacy Notebook (see Class Syllabus for instructions). Here is a sample Fallacy Notebook. (No, you may not copy the examples.) AND read Science 1, Advertisers 0. Print a copy of "Science 1, Advertisers 0" and bring to class.

  • Due 9/22 (Wed) - Read from your textbook The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, pages v to xx (this is the dedication page, the Table of Contents, the Foreword, the Preface, the User's Guide, & Explanation of General Format) AND read pages xxiii to xxvii (He Changed My Life). Bring this textbook to class. There will be an open textbook quiz on what you read. AND keep working on your Fallacy Notebook.

  • Due 9/27 (Mon) - Read Memory Mechanics book, pp. 24-41. AND read from your textbook The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, pages xxix to xli (this is the first part of the Introduction). Bring this textbook to class. There will be an open textbook quiz on what you read. AND keep working on your Fallacy Notebook.

  • Due 9/29 (Wed) - Your Fallacy Notebook is due (see Class Syllabus for instructions). See this Sample Fallacy Notebook if you need an idea of how to do one. AND study for your 1st Major Test (see Study Info 1).

  • Due 10/4 (Mon) - Read Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis, pp. xvi - 32 and bring this textbook to class. There will be an open book quiz on your reading.

  • Due 10/6 (Wed) - Read Freud.html. Know who Freud was, who Lewis was, the evidence for each view, “wish fulfillment,” “father figure,” and what Freud said about Christian moral teachings. There will be a quiz to test your knowledge of these items.

  • Due 10/11 (Mon) - Read atheism.html. Write down the Scripture references found in this article and bring your Bible and these references to class.

  • Due 10/13 (Wed) - Read http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/2174. Bring your Bible to class.

  • Due 10/18 (Mon) - Read difficul.html. Bring your Bible to class.

  • Due 10/20 (Wed) - Complete the Bible Contradictions? exercise that was distributed in class. It will be collected on this date. Also bring your Bible to class.

  • Due 10/25 (Mon) - Bring 2 of your own Bible "contradictions" to class. This is a written assignment. Bring your Bible to class.

  • Due 10/27 (Wed) - Read from The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, pages 33-45. Take notes as you go. I want to see one full page of notes based on what you read. I will count this as a homework grade.

  • Due 11/1 (Mon) - Read from The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, pages 45-60. Take notes as you go. I want to see one full page of notes based on what you read. I will count this as a homework grade.

  • Due 11/3 (Wed) - Read the article Fish Out of Water.

  • Due 11/8 (Mon) - Go to the Answers in Genesis website: http://www.answersingenesis.org/. Find the article entitled Did T. Rex taste like chicken? Read the entire article and bring the answer to this question to class.

  • Due 11/10 (Wed) - Read Scopes Monkey Trial.

  • Due 11/15 (Mon) - Read Racism & Evolution.

  • Due 11/17 (Wed) - Study for your 2nd Major Test (see Study Info 2). Read Darwinism: Survival Without Purpose AND The Blind Men and the Elephant poem. Print the poem and bring it to class.

  • 11/22 (Mon) - Thanksgiving Recess - NO CLASSES!

  • 11/24 (Wed) - Thanksgiving Recess - NO CLASSES!

  • Due 11/29 (Mon) - Read Witnessing to Hindus (Part Two: Specific Suggestions). Choose your topic for your paper or video that is due on December 8. Submit to your teacher for approval.

  • Due 12/1 (Wed) - Read the three pamphlets on Mormonism that were given to you in class: LDS1, LDS2, LDS3. Know the content of these pamphlets. A quiz will be given on your reading. Submit your thesis statement for your paper/video to your teacher. See How to Write a Major Paper for instructions.

  • Due 12/6 (Mon) - Prepare your questions on Mormonism for the missionaries coming AND submit a tentative outline for your paper/video to your teacher.

  • Due 12/8 (Wed) - Read How NOT to Start an Ancient Religion, Factors 1-8. (You don't have to read word-for-word. Just get the gist of what is said about each factor.) Your paper/video is due - bring to class or email it.

  • Due 12/13 (Mon) - Read How NOT to Start an Ancient Religion, Factors 9-end. (You don't have to read word-for-word. Just get the gist of what is said about each factor.) AND Study for your 3rd Major Test (see Study Info 3).
